Lily Pad Cards & CAS-ual Friday

Lily Pad Cards had a sketch for this challenge sponsored by The Greeting Farm, and CAS-ual Fridays had the challenge Stuck on You.  I decided to make a kid's card which included both.  This card uses Penny Black stickeroos.

Simon Says Use Dawny's Sketch

This card is for the Simon Says use Dawny's Sketch.  It is a little different from what I usually do.  I distressed inked the background, layed the different card and papers, gold embossed the flower and sentiment.  I don't have any border punches so included some cuttlebugged the flowers instead.

My first 90 minute scramble

At 6am on Monday morning,  I got up early to take part in my first Hero Arts 90 minute scramble.  The challenge was "make a card using either your oldest or latest-purchased Hero Arts stamp. Or, use them both."

It was a lot of fun.  Here is the card I made, using the oldest Hero Arts stamp I have.

Pink Butterflies

I have been helping my kids to make cards the last day or so which has been fun, but it has been nice to get the chance to make one myself too.  Here it is.  It incorporates aspects of several challenges.

Pink Butterflies

This card uses the colours from the Play Date Cafe Challenge #95,  navy, bubblegum and leaf green.  (It may look black, but it is actually navy).

It  incorporates two types of embossing which is part of the CAS-ual Friday Challenge #16.

It is also for the challenge from The Crafter's Cafe - Anything in August Progressive Challenge.  The challenge is anything goes, but it does need to have a bow, sparkle and a sentiment.

I used my cuttlebug to emboss the floral background onto the green card which I mounted onto the pink card, and then onto the navy card.  I added some butterflies which I embossed with white and distress inked with pink.  I keep the bottom part plain so that I could stamp a sentiment on it.  I separated this with some pink ribbon and a bow.  I added rinestones too.

Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.  They are greatly appreciated.

Simon Says .... Summer Holidays Children's Challenge

Simon Says have a challenge for children aged 2 - 16 years.  My 6 year old son and 4 year old daughter were quite keen to make a card and enter it in the competition.  Here are their entries.

They chose the coloured card they wanted to use and enjoyed using my cutter to cut the white card to size.  Jonathan wanted to colour in a Toy Story picture and added a couple of stamps afterwards.  Danielle wanted to do some stamping.  She likes pink and purple and hearts as you will see.

Kathy’s Color Palette

Here is my card is for the Lily Pad Cards Kathy’s Color Palette Challenge.

Kathy’s Color Palette

I initially struggled to work out what to do with this colour palette.  In the end I used chocolate brown to stamp the swirl background on the cream card.  I stamped the fern image and birthday wishes onto some light brown card, mounted these and mounted it onto the blue card.  Finally I added the brown ribbon.  It is a fairly simple card, but quite effective.

Hope you are having a great day.

Purple and Lilac

Purple, lilic and pinks are colours I like to work with so I thought I would take part in Jay Nook's Challenge 10.  The challenge is to "simply create a project inspired by this photograph, another beautiful college put together by Joy - interpret it any way you wish."

Here is my interpretation

Purple

This is also my card for the Lily Pad Cards, August Chain Card Challenge.

I then made another card using  lilic.
Textured card

I used a brayer to put ink (lilac) onto my cuttlebug folder and then put the cardstock in it and put it through the cuttlebug slowly several times to let the ink press into the card.  It always seems to work better at one end then the other.  I like this technique as it helps the embossed image to stand out more, but it usually takes a few attempts as it doesn't always work out.  Even this one I am not completely happy with, but it seemed to be the best one.  I then distress inked the scalloped circle in lilac and mounted it on a white circle, edging it slightly with ink and adding a stickeroo.  To finish off I added ribbon for more texture and mounted it all on white card

Thanks for stopping by.

Fudge, Goldenrod and Teal

This is the first card I made using for The Play Date Cafe Challenge colours - fudge, goldenrod and teal.  It is masculine card which I always find hard to made, but thought these colours work well for a male card.  I am entering this in the Wee Memories Challenge WMC64 Masculine Challenge.

Male card - tools

I then decided to make another card using the PDCC colours (PDCC94) as I liked them a lot and this time I also used the layout for CAS-ual Fridays challenge (CFC15).  This challenge is also combined with Clean and Simple (FTL153).  I am not sure if I can enter two cards for PDCC94 and I wasn't sure which one to enter so asked my 4 year old and she said she liked this one better.  It is a simple design, but I still like it.

Lots of White

My first uploaded cards!

This first card is for the challenge Hero Arts August Challenge. The theme is Creatures, Cards for Kids, or the Technique: Making a scene.
Butterfly in royal blue

My card uses the creatures theme with the butterfly stamp from Inkadinka Clings.  The butterfly is stamped onto cardstock that has been distressed with ultramarine blue ink.  I have stamped the edge of the circle with this ink too and then mounted it on a slightly larger scalloped circle in royal blue.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is Hero Arts stamp (E1119).  I have embossed the white background with a Cuttlebug floral screen design mounted it onto royal blue card.

The second card is for the challenge Simon Says All White - White on white, plus a coloured image.

All white with coloured image

I have embossed the white background with a Cuttlebug floral screen design and mounted this on my white card.  The flower is from Inkadinkado clear stamps (Garden Delight 97623) and stamped with pansy and tea leaves.  I have used nestabilities to cut out the circle and scalloped circle shapes.  To finish it off I have added some white ribbon.

Thanks for dropping by.
